Joomla Extension - Simple File Upload

Note! v1.0 released, please view it here!

As many have asked for v0.9.3 to remain I will continue to support that too.

Just what the name says, a simple module for uploading files to a specified directory.

The screens show the module implemented on the Right column, but as with any module the placement is according to your settings.

View Admin module settings screen here (v. 0.9.3b):

(Opens in new window)

The settings should be quite simple to understand but please refer to the comments in the module setting parameters if you have any problems...

Please take some time to leave a comment with your thanks or comments!

If you like it and want me to keep trying to get stuff out there, don't hesitate to send me a buck or two...

Many thanks to:

John F., Brian D., Linda J., Mark K.

I am having trouble with this extension when I try to restrict to a specific user. Works fine with default settings. Is there known issues with setting specific users. Thank you for the extension and I plan to donate once I get it working, just a little stuck and not sure how to contact you

Hi,
Have you set the users with hte correct CaSe?
"Admin" is not the same user as "admin". You need to separate the users with ; (semi-colon).
I will send you an e-mail as well.

Hello,

I have installed the module and am trying to create a link in a menu to map to the module. What type of link do I make? (sorry, the entire Menu concept confuses me and I can't figure out how to get to the module).

Hi,
well, since it is a module you do not need a menu for it. In the Joomla Administration you first need to enable it under Modules and then pick the place where it should reside. If you chose "Left" it will be shown in the left column on the page(s) you chose for it to be viewed. Look at the screen capture above for Admin screen an you will see I have place mine in the left column.

After unsuccessfully trying to upload and install, I uploaded the zip file manually to a site directory /misc and tried to 'install from URL'.

I get the message "Remote server connection failed, failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found invalid URL"

I know both my URL and my FTP username and password are correct. What am I doing wrong?

Add write access to the directory... That should do it.

Thanks in advance.

Empty delimiter is fixed in v1.2 (and it is only a Warning, not an error). 2MB limit is probably from your PHP settings, please check max. upload size from phpinfo(). Let me know if you need help with that, ok?

Hi,
not currently no, I have had a few questions about it and will give it some thought... (not making any promises though...) ;)

Great job, just what I needed, almost exactly! The only thing more I need is a way to trigger a task in another plugin upon upload success.

I'm using the pdf indexer plugin, and I need to index the file that's uploaded. So I'm going to check into adding that ability.

Thanks again, its going to be a very useful tool to many I'm sure.

0 # RE: How can i change language?Anders 2010-08-31 07:08
You'll need to change language for Joomla. Work-around is to rename (or translate) the language file into the desired language before uploading or in /language/en-GB/en-GB.mod_simplefileu ploadv1.2.ini

Where en-GB is your default Joomla language.

To change to a "normal" button you'll need to alter the code in ../tmpl/default.php.

The link and design for the "pop-up" is done in tmpl/default.php and text is from helper.php.

I have given some thought into the progressbar but it requires a few calsses on teh server and I havn't been able to sort it out yet... Maybe next release...

Anders
