Simple File Upload v1.1

Ok, so I have finally gotten around to finish the v1.1 of Simple File Upload (SFU). It contains two of the most requested features; Ajax driven CAPTCHA reload and allow multiple file upload at the same time.

I am already working on v1.2 which will contain the next "step" from all the requests, namely "zip/tar upload and extract" and user specific upload directories. With a pool halfway on completion my "real" job and family, etc., etc. I can not make any promises to when v1.2 is completed but if you guys keep encourage me I'll try to get it done as soon as I possible can...

Please help me out in testing v1.1 and report any strange behaviors, bugs or flaws you find, Ok?

(Please do not forget to tell me if it is working as well by leaving a comment (it's not THAT difficult and doesn't hurt at ALL; I promise!!!)

More Information and screen shots here.

You will find the download section here.

Take care!

Great Plug in! I have a question though. After an upload, there is a small window that appears with the details of the upload, also there is one when the upload fails because of file size too big. Is thee a way to disable that?

Hi,

Sometimes you will get a "blurry" image, yes. But hit reload and you should get a "better" one, that's the reason for the reload button...

I agree that the captcha is very hard to read. It's the colors that are used, not because it's blurry.

Will the new version allow users to upload zipped files?

Yes, that is what I am aiming for. Although my hosting services does not allow for un-zip on the server so you need to have support for that on your host.

Hi there. I'm not sure if this is a php version issue, but I'm getting this error when I first install on Joomla 1.5.15. I'm trouble shooting now.

T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in modules/mod_simplefileu ploadv1.1/helper.php on line 5

I'm not a coder, so there's probably an easy solution, but thought I'd share.

Hi,
sorry to hear that. I will contact you via e-mail and we'll sort it out!

Sounds like a PHP4 issue...

Hi,
please check your logging level of either Joomla (Admin Server Configuration) or PHP. Set logging to normal and you will not see the notices.

First thank you for your efforts. I too am looking for just this module.

I have install it ...appears to work great... shows that the file was uploaded.

HOWEVER; when I check to see if it has uploaded it is not there. I can not find the file anywhere. Please help. Otherwise this will be a great tool for my club officers that need to upload minutes and financial report and I can just move them around.

Can I put more than one modules say one for minute; one for reports; and one for whatever just by designating a location, etc Some module can not be use with a copy of the same module.

Thanks ahead.

Hi, thanks!

The defult upload path is into your Joomla root/images. Have you looked there?
You can add more then one module as long as you name them differently but I don't know how it will act with duplicate function names/variables...
Haven't tested it... will do though and let you know...

Thanks for the module, it appears to work great! But like Jean, I am not able to find the file anywhere on my server. I have tried changing the upload location setting and have check the default and location you noted above. I have searched the entire site, files are nowhere to be found?

Feature requests:

- Redirect to another page (if you want) after successful upload --> "Thank you for uploading..."

- On redirected site I'd love to see all files of the users upload folder. --> "Thank you for uploading. You uploaded successfully: abc.jpg 98 KB; def.pdf 68 KB..."

- The text of the E-Mail is sth. like: "Saved as: .upload/abc.jpg". Could you create an HTML-link, so you can click and watch the uploaded file?

- Text field to comment the upload. --> "Hi Anders, this picture shows me beside the pool." This text should appear in the mail.

Thank you!!

Alex

Thanks!

Good points... I am trying to get something done on the next release but unfortunately my "real" jobs takes up too much time... plus that I am building a pool in my backyard...

I would like to use this great module for uploading doc files. Could anyone give me suggestions on how can I use this for uploading (.doc/.docx) files. And what I need to do for that purpose.

Thanks for your reply.

to enable word doc upload in the module parameters modify 'allowed filetypes' parameter and add ;application/msword

that worked for me with .doc files. not sure about .docx though
